Microscopy Instruction, Consultation & Analysis

Coronavirus Update

July 15, 2020

COVID-19 has continued to upend the plans and schedules of laboratories and businesses throughout the world; MICA is no exception. Chicago has started to reopen in stages, and we continue to follow public heath initiatives put forth by local, state and national agencies and officials. Unfortunately, cities and states across the United States are experiencing increasing outbreaks of the coronavirus.

These conditions greatly impact student travel. Many U.S. states and cities have begun to return to more restrictive measures. Others have imposed 14-day quarantines for residents returning from travel outside their home state. Finally, the situation in the United States has constrained the travel plans of our international students.

For these reasons – and out of an abundance of caution for our students and staff – we are suspending our Summer and Fall courses. At this point, it is too early to determine whether we will be able to safely teach in December. As always, we want to offer the best and most effective microscopy education without compromising student safety.

MICA remains open, of course, so feel free to contact us by telephone or email if you have any questions. Peter continues to do consulting and select sample analysis. Recently, he helped NVLAP develop guidelines for performing remote laboratory audits in his role as a Technical Assessor for the organization.

Under mutually agreed conditions, MICA will consider onsite microscopy courses. If you’re interested, call 773-334-2240. If you’d like to be added to our email list, send your request to Annette@micascope.com.
